Just some reminders/corrections:

We will not be having confessions tomorrow, it is actually the Grade 4's going. Ours should be in the next two weeks.

Monday is our poem recitation day. Practice practice practice! We will also be skating on Monday, please send in your permission forms and rental fees!

I went through a study sheet with the students for our Socials Test next week... they should know the answers for the questions in order to do well on the test... HINT HINT WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE!

We have also been reciting the Apostle's Creed in class. On the quiz, next week, it will be all fill in the blanks and a word bank will be given.

Yesterday was anti-bullying day. While every day should be anti-bullying day, yesterday was a good reminder of the Golden Rule: Treat everyone as you would want to be treated.We started a bucket filling program in the class and it has been working really well. We will continue with the positive notes and filling each other's buckets. We will also begin a V.I.P program in Personal Planning, where we will explore the different traits that we want to have ourselves and we want to find in our friends.

We have had SNOW much fun today! WOW! The groundhog was right! It is still winter! Please ensure that the children are dressed to go outside! That means boots please! If possible, please send an extra pair of socks to school just in case their feet get wet. Thanks!

Tomorrow is our BOOK FAIR!!! Woohoo!
It's dress up as a book character day!
We have games, prizes, food and other fun things in the gym from 5-8pm tomorrow night!
You will be able to check out the classrooms and all the projects in the gym!
Also, please see the Scholastic Book Sale :)
                   Please bring any cakes and cupcakes to the Parish Center tomorrow morning!

We have finished all the Bible readings today (except for those who were away!). Poem recitation will be on the first week of March... Keep practicing!

We will also have a continents quiz (social studies) that week on March 4. I have taught the students a new poem today to help them learn the placement of the continents.

It's a regular-ish week for us. Back is the spelling routine (Unit 19) due Thursday and Math quiz on Thursday on telling time.

Reading Fair and Student-Led conferences are on Thursday!!! Please check your child's bag for important notes that were sent home today!

Happy Olympic-Valentine's-African Colour Day! Whew! Could we fit more fun into two days???
I apologize that we did not get to bible readings today, as I was away yesterday (the flu is going around!) and today was just full on fun activities, one after the other! We will get to them Monday and Tuesday next week. We will also do our poetry readings the first week of March.

Next week is our Student Led Conferences and we will share your time next week. If you signed up for the Open House, you are free to come in any time between 5-8pm.

There have been projects trickling in already. They are looking great! I can't wait to see them all! Don't forget that they are due on Mon, Feb 17!

Here is a special announcement from the PFG:
The annual CCS 'Stayin' Alive' auction is coming up fast!  If you would like to get ahead on your volunteer hours, there are plenty to be had that night!  Shifts are availalable in either two or four hour slots on Saturday, March 1st, from 5 - 7pm, 7 - 9pm, 9 - 11pm, 11 - 1pm, 5 - 9pm, or 9pm - 1am.  You can sign up by either returning the form that was sent home with students yesterday, or emailing fundraising@ccsunited.ca.

Tickets are on sale now, available by order form (also sent home yesterday) or directly from the school office, for $30 each!  They're going fast, so pick yours up quick or risk being disappointed!

Bible Readings

Just to clarify, we will begin Bible readings on Tuesday this week, as I need to get names in for the local competition at the end of the week. I hope you are all enjoying the weekend!

I will move the Apostle's Creed Quiz to WED. MARCH 5 to accommodate projects we currently have!

We just started a unit on time in Math. If you have an analog clock at home (yay!) ask your child to practice telling time. Highlight special times of the day, for example, dinner time, bed time, time to go to school, etc. They should be able to tell time using hour and minutes.

THANK YOU for your generous donations to helping purchase a goat in Africa. To date, we have $64.00 (enough for one goat!) If you would like to still make a donation, we will still be collecting money until next Wednesday.
